TLang

The easiest language for backend development

TLang is a Java-built, tree-walking interpreted language designed to read like plain sentences. HTTP, SQLite, JSON, the filesystem, config, logging, crypto, validation, JWTs, mail, and caching all ship in the standard library — no package manager, no dependency graph, no setup tax before you write your first route.

let age be 20

if age >= 18
show "Adult"
otherwise
show "Minor"

define square taking x
return x * x

show square(5)

Read as a sentence, that program says: let age be 20 — if age is greater than or equal to 18, show "Adult", otherwise show "Minor." Define a function called square that takes x and returns x times x. Show the result of calling square with 5.

Built for one job

TLang isn't a general-purpose language wearing a backend hat. Every native module exists because a real backend needs it — nothing more.

  • Indentation, not punctuation — blocks are defined by INDENT / DEDENT tokens, Python-style. No semicolons, no curly braces.
  • Batteries included — HTTP, SQLite, JSON, filesystem, config, logging, crypto, validation, JWT, mail, and cache modules ship in the standard library via a single NativeModule pattern.
  • One canonical style — the formatter has zero configuration options. There's one correct way to format a TLang file, and it's idempotent.

Tooling that ships with the language

  • CLI — tlang run, tlang fmt, and tlang lsp are ready today. doctor, test, repl, new, install, and publish are staged next.
  • Language Server — diagnostics, hover, go-to-definition, find references, and rename are implemented and power a VS Code extension.

What TLang deliberately isn't

These are ratified scope boundaries, not gaps waiting to be filled:

  • No bytecode VM
  • No try / catch
  • No floating-point numbers
  • No formal class syntax
  • No concurrency

Start with the language reference, grab the installer, or jump straight to examples.
